Whoa, I am already talking about New Years and Christmas hasn't even arrived. I am booking into January and have people already scheduling their appointments for their New Years Resolutions! However, most people don't adhere to the goals they set for themselves at New Years. While their intentions are true, it seems that most people fall off the band wagon by February. It would seem only people with solid resolve seem to make it. So just why is this?

Well, most people try to go from 0 to 100 all at once. They try to lose 60 lbs A.S.A.P and get discouraged when they only lose 3 pounds in one month.

Change is gradual. Change is a process. It is not about getting to your destination quickly. Lifestyle change of any kind takes time. You need to give yourself the time and the space to make the change. And you don't have to do it alone. People are more likely to succeed with professional help with someone that is trained to deal with the issue at hand. Both hypnosis and NLP are tools that can help you develop better habits and behaviours.

So if you are ready to truly make change this coming January 2011, maybe it's time to try something different, something that works!

I have made some changes around the clinic this past few years to ensure it is environmentally friendly.

The electricity is powered by Bullfrog which provides green electricity. There was $1000 of energy efficient lighting installed on the premises by Toronto Hydro ensuring lower energy consumption is lower. And all cleaning products have are green and environmentally friendly.

While these changes have been a step in the right direction, there are still changes to be made.

As of January 1st 2011 I am moving to a paperless office. All notes will be taken on a tablet pc to minimize the use of paper. All client intake forms will now be digital as well.

I feel that the move towards a paperless office is a step in the right direction and will help reduce the impact to the environment.

The Harvard Medical School conducted research on the use of hypnosis to enhance physical healing. Twelve people with a recent bone fracture were divided into two groups. One group received hypnosis and the other group served as control. Both groups received standard orthopedic treatment. The hypnosis group had individual hypnotic sessions and listened to audio tapes designed to increase bone healing. Xray and orthopedic evaluations were made during the 12 weeks of the experiment.

The results showed a faster healing for the hypnosis group at week 9 of the experiment.   Xrays revealed a notable difference at the edge of the fracture at  week 6 of the experiment.  The hypnosis group also had better mobility and used less pain killers. The researchers conclude by saying that "despite a small sample size.... these data suggest that hypnosis may be capable of enhancing both anatomical and functional fracture healing, and that further investigation of hypnosis to accelerate healing is warranted."

The article was "Using hypnosis to accelerate the healing of bone  fractures: a randomized controlled pilot study", by Ginandes, CS,  Rosenthal, DI. Alternative Therapy Health Medicine, 1999,  March, 5(2), pp.67-75.

If you want to get your body in shape, you go to the gym and get a personal trainer. A personal trainer helps you to set fitness goals for yourself....and helps you to reach those goals.

If you want to change an aspect of your life, a hypnotherapist can help, much like a personal trainer helps the body, to change your patterns of behaviour and habits to make the change that you desire.

A hypnotherapist helps to keep you on track and makes sure you reach your goals by helping you uncover your motivation and willpower! When you start tapping into your mind, amazing changes can happen!

Hypnosis and NLP are used by sports pro's to help they focus and stay at the top of their game. In fact, Tiger Woods had his own hypnotherapist that went on tour with him!

I have worked with many people to help them increase their performance for sports such as hockey, golf, volleyball, football and soccer.

Positive expectations yeilds positive results. Negative thoughts or doubt can affect the ability of someone when they are playing. It is important to maintain focus on the game, not worrying about missing a shot. Hypnosis and NLP allow one to get into the flow of the game.

People have reported back to me that they have scored more points, performed much better and even enjoyed the experience more as a result of treatement with hypnosis and NLP.

So if you play sports and want to reach your personal best you might want to consider using these tools to help you be your best!

Many people are unhappy with their current job or career path. Like an automaton they go to work or a 9 to 5 job everyday feeling unhappy and putting their true goals and dreams on the back burner. They know in their heart that they would rather be doing something else.

When we feel passionate about something that we truly love to do, it is a signal. I have a friend who was stuck in a 9 to 5 job and really disliked it. She did some soul searching and discovered that she was passionate about make up and making women look good and feel good. She took training to become a make up artist and now is doing work in the field, she left her 9 to 5 job and followed her dreams and is feeling very happy and fulfilled in her new career path.

Hypnosis and NLP can help to uncover and align you with your life's purpose. Through intake and goal setting processes you learn what you want out of life and what you need to do to get there. In hypnosis you can then install those goals and dreams in the subconscious mind so it begins working with you to make them a reality.

Attention coffee aficionados! Hula Girl Espresso Boutique is open for business. I must admit that I am a coffee lover. I have become used to the coffee from Rabba across the street which is actually country style. Very common and very boring.

I recently made a trip to Hula Girl Espresso Boutique to try their signature Kona blended coffee. I think it is safe to say that I will not be drinking anything else for a long, long time.

Located at 2473 Dundas Street West, located just a minute away from Dundas West station, the owners have got it right. From the modern decor to the eco-friendly packaging to the excellent coffee, I expect this place to be booming in no time. They have been open for a week and right now, they just carry coffee and baked goods, but the owners (who are very wonderful, good people) assured me that they will have breakfast and lunch available soon.

So how does Kona coffee taste? Incredible. I got a bag to take home with me so that I can now enjoy it on a daily basis. It is worth the trip to get a cup and buy a bag to take home with you! I recommend their coffee highly. No other coffee can really compare.

Wonderful atmosphere and the coffee is amazing!

When we say things like "you make me angry" or "you really screwed up" it becomes accusatory. It can make the person that we are communicating with shut down or become defensive. Using "I" messages can be a far more productive method of getting your point across.

Saying "I feel frustrated when this happens" or "I am feeling angry as a result of this situation" helps the other person to understand your point of view  instead of feeling like they are being attacked. It can help reach a compromise much sooner in any situation.

Practice using "I" messages in your daily communications with others.
